Standard automotive flexible brake hoses are manufactured from synthetic rubber and are reinforced with multiple layers of fabric braid. Under pressure they can expand considerably, having an alarming effect on the efficiency of the braking system. In the mid 1960's Earl's pioneered the use of armored flex hose made of extruded Teflon, to solve this problem. The stiffness of the extruded Teflon liner combined with the tightly woven high tensile stainless steel outer braid, prevents any expansion under heavy braking conditions.
